She also covers another “interesting” aspect of his political career. As a Member of the European parliament, he has been central in the European Parliament’s work against “foreign interference in democratic processes” and “desinformation”. As Maike Gosch writes:
“Even more interesting, however, is Glucksmann’s role as a Member of the European Parliament: from 2020 to 2022, he chaired the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE), and subsequently—until 2023—its successor committee, ING2. Under his chairmanship, the committee became a key parliamentary driving force behind the demand to not only publicly combat so-called “foreign disinformation” but also impose sanctions on its originators and disseminators. As early as January 2022, the European Parliament unequivocally titled its statement on the committee’s final recommendations: “EU should build a sanctions regime against disinformation.””
