In this article in Sveriges Radio, we can read that Sweden’s Civil Minister Erik Slottner (KD, Christioan Democrats) owns shares in a wind power company. Still, he has been involved in making a decicion on governmental level regarding a wind power park that the company wants to build. This has been revealed by Ekot, a news program by Sveriges Radio.
Professor in public law, Olle Lundin at the University og Uppsala, says that The minister is clearly legal incompetent.
The wind power company Eolus wants to build a wind power park sized 350 square kilometers off the coast. The project was called “Najaderna” and relied on a governmental decicion.
Sveriges Radio writes that one of the share owners in the wind power company is civil minister Erik Slottner. He owned the shares when he became minister and he abstained on alt least two occasions from participating in a governmental decision concerning Eolus, as he found himself legally incompetent.
Noenetheless, when the government in March 2024 gave the county leadership the task of oversseing the premises for the wind power park Najaderna and the offshore wind power parks belonging to two other companies, Slottner chose to participate. Through this deision, the government wanted to “create conditions for a powerful building of the sea based wind power”.
Professor Olle Lundin says that if Slottner has got private economical interests in the decision, then he was clearly legally incompetent and should not have participated.
Slottner says that he did not know that the decision was a decision about the company in which he owned shares.
