In this commentary, Julia Schreiner Benito gives several examples of well-known Norwegians who came up with discriminatory remarks about people who did not take the covid 19 vaccine. Here are some examples:
Ingeborg Senneset, writer in the newspaper Aftenposten
In November 2021, she wrote the following in Aftenposten: “About one out of ten health workers in Norway are not vaccinated yet. And some of the unvaccinated have brought on the contamination. This has lead to deaths. Further: “Unvaccinated health personnel should get a vaccine or be replaced. This is not forced vaccination. It is a professional requirement”. In May 2021 she wrote that “Resistance to vaccination resembles less and less a direction and more and more a religion.
Kjetil Rolness
Kjetil Rolness is a well-known Norwegian writer. He wrote the following on Facebook in December 2021:
“Why is it completely out of the question to use any form of coercion against vaccine refusers and vaccine opponents, while the authorities clearly have few qualms about exercising coercion against the entire population?”
Espen Gamlund, philosopher
In the newspaper VG he stated the following in December 2021:
“The pandemic imposes many obligations on us. Quarantine obligation, mask obligation, testing obligation, and social distancing obligation. And it imposes a vaccination obligation on us.”
Professor Janne Haaland Matlary
In the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv she stated the following in December 2021:
“Should the community suffer because the individual refuses to be vaccinated? The answer is no.” Furthermore: “It is a mystery that vaccine refusers are not imposed isolation from the rest of us, from the larger community.”
Per Urdahl
Per Urdahl, Clinic manager at the hospital in Telemark said the following to the state channel NRK in December 2021:
“I think I would be very skeptical about letting unvaccinated people into a family gathering, such as at Christmas, if I were a vulnerable patient who wasn’t sure I was well enough protected.”
