Making public claims that Russia should be split up into smaller nations, is not a bright idea if one wants peace. In this comment, Erik Strand comment the example of Estonian PM Kaja Kallas, also pointing out that these ideas were put forward by influential forces long before February 2022. Poland’s President Andrzei Duda calls for ‘decolonizing’ Russia

On July 3, 2024, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) stated that the ‘decolonzation’ of the Russian Federation’ is a necessary condition for sustainable peace. One finds the exact wording in paragraph 47 on page 33 in this document on OSCE’s own website (the page is paginated ’31’ but it is atually page 33 in the PDF document).
